Safety

I was sitting outside around 7 p.m. tonight at my neighbor's request. Sissy is selling her car and received several inquiries and requests to view the vehicle. She was expecting a male buyer and asked if I'd sit with her and wait. So there we sat awaiting the potential buyer and I'm wondering to myself what exactly am I supposed to do?

The man arrives in a beat up, I mean like dented all over auto, and clearly is parking challenged. He makes three attempts at parking in three different locations, two requiring a U-turn and finally settles on parking across the street where a large space exists. He exits his vehicle, Sissy approaches him and he requests to take the car for a spin.

I'm still sitting on the brick wall, wait until they're out of sight and then meander to his car. I note his license plate and then it occurs to me: what good is the plate if the car's stolen? Could I describe the man if they didn't return? Why am I really here? Of course, I couldn't describe him if I had to, so this pretty much made my presence a moot point.

They returned about five minutes later and he decided he was not interested. I told Sissy that she should set the route and distance for the test drive and drive the vehicle. I also told her that she should take her cell phone and I'll have mine ready as well. What else could we do? More interested parties are coming tomorrow and during the weekend.
