Cable TV & Dr. Who
I barely watched this week's episode of Six Feet Under and I am shocked - shocked - that Nate's gone. How can they eliminate a Fisher? Why not a Diaz or Maggie or Russell (for God's sake)? I guess this is the end of the show. I kept hoping that it wouldn't be, because I really love this quirky drama so much. What's to become of Brenda and her unborn baby? Hell, what's to become of Maya? All irrelevant for certain, since this is the final season. I have enjoyed the way Ruth's character is filling out. And Maggie the ferret, well - I wasn't thrilled about her character becoming permanent.
Any Dr. Who fans out there? Any fans with access to the series on British TV? If so, I want to talk to you! I want to implore you to burn me a DVD(s) of the new Dr. Who series for viewing in the States. Of all the lousy breaks to get. Dr. Who returns after years of absence and no one in the States picked it up. My last hope was a PBS station, they've always come to my rescue in the past, but no such luck this time. So, if you have access to Dr. Who, are Tivoing the show or whatever, have access to a DVD burner, are willing to burn me a copy - let's chat.
One more show I want to talk about, The 4400 on USA Network. This sci-fi series is one of the best I've seen in a long time. It replaces the X-Files for me - that's how good it is. I love the plot and how the story and characters are evolving. It's well written and has a good cast of unknowns (at least, they're unknown to me). The 4400 are 4400 abductees that are returned to earth with special powers/abilities. They're scorned by the rest of society who loathe and fear their abilities. Each week we learn about a new 4400 and his/her special gift and struggle to fit in world where they no longer belong or are welcomed.
