A Day in My Life
We started the day with brunch at our favorite teahouse in Santa Monica, CA. After we strolled around The Promenade on a very clear blustery day that was perfect for encouraging brisk walking! LOL Walking fast gives the illusion of warmth and doesn't give the brain time to register how crazy you are for being out and about. We took time for a steaming cup of joe and threw down the gauntlet for a Rummikub match. Finally we topped it off with an $80 shopping spree at Borders Bookstore. We bought the boxed sets of Supernatural Season Two and Torchwood, love 40% discount coupons.

A Day in My Life
The rain did arrive and continued throughout the weekend. We enjoyed a challenge of Rummikub as we cat sat our neighbor's cat Emmitt. I then continued playing Rummy Squares against the computer and won my best hand ever at expert level! Yeah, I was definitely jazzed about that.
It was a weekend to stay off the street and indoors and we were happy to do it. I listened to several podcasts which is necessary since I have to keep up. We also watched the remake of Halloween 2007 and Saw 3, both are horror flicks that managed to make my skin crawl. LOL

A Day In My Life
We started out with a hearty breakfast at a greasy spoon of eggs, bacon and pancakes and then headed off to Wal*Mart. We were very happy to find the place empty and reason to stay awhile and run amok! It was off to my mom's to visit and play with her cat Precious who's a real camera hog. I closed out the day by playing with a Palm Treo. It's from Boo's office and my observations are: the screen is very clear and readable, the keyboard keys are super tiny and do not have a tactile feel, it's rather heavy to tote around and a bit too large for my taste. They need to slim it down and make the keys less knobby.

A Day in My Life
We spent this weekend with our friend waiting for her car stereo to be installed. Her car was broken into and boy, did they clean her out! They totally damaged her console and stole her in-dash CD player (which didn't work), ashtray (go figure) and everything else that wasn't fastened.
We went to Best Buy for the new CD player and that's where our never ending wait began. Since I didn't anticipate such a long wait and didn't want to seem rude, I didn't take my iPod - talk about feeling regret. Thank God for SMSing, playing Bejeweled on the cell and watching the news otherwise, I would've gone nuts! We capped the evening off with a delightful dinner.

A Day in My Life
A fantastic and very happy celebration of my Mother's 81st birthday - that I should be so lucky to live as long. Mom's looking great, if I say so myself, and was in very good spirits which always does my heart a lot of good to see. We celebrated at Pirates in Buena Park, CA near Knott's Berry Farm and Mom repeated more than twice how she had a wonderful time and enjoyed the meal and entertainment.

A Day in My Life
We began the day with a trip to the optometrist to pick up Boo's glasses and sunglasses. Since they weren't ready, I listened to podcasts and read the People magazine which, of course, had everything Anna Nicole. Such a tragic life that continues like a circus sideshow even in death.
I made a pitstop at an enchanting metaphysical bookstore named Alexandria in Pasadena and perused the journal section. Haven't kept a written one in years and in 2006 shredded previous ones. We window shopped the Smtih & Hawken's Garden Center and fantasized about which over priced patio furniture we'd like! The day culminated with delivery of ground beef with vidalia onions from the Kansas City Steak Co. These patties are great for grilling or meatballs or albondiga soup.

A Day in My Life

Arriving too early for a much needed hair cut resulted in waiting in the car. I was too tired for idle chit chat, so I opted to recline and listen to the iPod. Hmmm, I wonder what time of year it is. Any guesses? Wal*Mart's ready to greet and fulfill all your *uperbowl needs (someone told me I can't use the name?) Here is the Hello Kitty birthday cake I want. Isn't it cute? Between my mug fetish and buying a birthday gift, the gift won out and the recipient was quite happy with her gift. Not to mention the amount of caffeine it holds!

A Day in My Life
I had to make my Sam's Club payment so off to Wal*Mart we went. Of course, my luck would have a snaking line at the customer service desk with each person having a major problem. My long awaited Mahjong set arrived and I was ecstatic! I've been wanting a nice set for about a year. My neighbor hooked me up. Boo has gnome fetish going on - that's the only to describe it. Yes indeed, this is the Travelocity Gnome and I have no idea where this little guy will end up. Boo would him to travel with us and me snapping his photo a la Amelie. Uh no, this will not be happening. Finally I stumbled upon the birthday cake design I want while ordering my ice cream sundae. She's a cutie, no?

A Day in My Life

Ahhh, a relaxing Japanese meal at Asakuma surrounded by an uncluttered ambience. Only to return home and have Buddah insist that we sit a spell outdoors - it is freezing! Blogging is always fun, as is catching up with blogger friends and a pucker-up apple martini helps remove the chill on a 32 degree evening. I wanted another but I was designated driver. :-(

A Day in My Life

We shopped After Christmas sales for Christmas decorations in 2007, searched for chimes at Vroman's Bookstore - the section was decimated but we found a charming Kliban mug, pit stops allowed for podcast breaks and we had afternoon tea at the lovely Tudor House.

A Day in My Life

Sipping martinis on a crisp autumn day at The Abbey in West Hollywood, which provided us a rich source for observation and discussion. A variety of flavored martinis coupled with appetizers kept the convo flowing and the spirit high! All around us people were scrambling to find the elusive gift and that rare parking space!

Festival of Lights

Every year the Los Angeles Department of Water & Power sponsors the Festival of Lights at Griffith Park in Los Angeles, California. Hundreds of people will drive through the park and observe beautiful decorations of all sizes, shapes, colors and variety of lights.
We arrived early after dining at a nearby restaurant and didn't have a long wait to enter or drive through. We made an attempt the previous weekend but the exit lane on the freeway was backed up for at least two miles. The rain began just as we neared the end and we had a blast feasting our eyes on the wonderful decorations.

A Day in My Life

Temps in the high seventies with a slight Santa Ana breeze blowing and lots of folks at Disneyland enjoying the colorful parades, lovely choirs and orchestra, fun rides and wonderful decorations. That's how we spent today. Nothing beats the splendor of Disneyland during the holidays!

A Day in My Life

The workspace is decorated for the Christmas holiday and we're feeling right at home. Boo found this gorgeous tree with 1,000 lights at Home Depot and we were totally surprised at how beautiful it is. I expected it to look good but I had no idea it would look so great! Shy Girl bought the seal and it's a wonderful complement to the tree.

A Day in My Life
The final UCLA game of the season for us and UCLA won 25 - 7! It was a chilly autumn day when the game began at 3:00 p.m. and it only got colder as night fell. We were warm in our beanies, caps and jackets and everyone had a great time. The clouds looked menacing but never brought any rain, just very light sprinkles.
We lucked out from the time we set foot on the grounds of the Rose Bowl. A guy came up and asked if we had our tickets. After responding "no" he handed us four complimentary tickets saving us a total of $60. Then while waiting in a snaking line (Punky just had to have some Kettle popcorn) another guy was lamenting his misfortune at having to exit the line after waiting forever because it is cash only. After hearing his plight, Punky allowed him to cut in the front of the line and he gifted her with two free bags of popcorn!
So all in all it was a great finale to a great game. We dined at Coco's restaurant on steaming soup and decaf coffee that warmed our insides and made us feel hot blooded again!

A Day in My Life

My family and I went to the San Bernardino mountains this weekend and had a great time. We picnicked, had a slice of apple pie a al mode in cinammon sauce, shopped for Christmas gifts and mugs, walked and enjoyed the fabulous 75 degree weather and talked and laughed. The Esperanza fire was still burning southeast of us, but you wouldn't know it from our vantage. The sky was crystal blue and the air clear, fresh and warm. Ah, I didn't want to come home!

An exciting football game where UCLA trumped U of Arizona 27 - 7 with an intercept and touchdown in the final four minutes of game play. Energy food in the form of Kung Pao chicken and green beans and shopping at Target for much needed Halloween decorations. I didn't find the tree I was looking for but...
